About Us

What is a Veterinary Behaviourist?

A Veterinary Behaviourist is a fully qualified veterinarian who has chosen to specialize in the field of Behaviour Medicine. This ensures a comprehensive background in brain anatomy, neuro-physiology, medicine and pharmacology, as well as learning theory, behaviour modification and the effects of medical problems on behaviour.

This unique skillset places Veterinary Behaviourists in the perfect position to diagnose both behavioural conditions and medical conditions that can affect a pet’s behaviour.

Veterinary Behaviourists are able to address behaviour problems from a species-specific and developmental perspective with a focus on understanding your pet’s body language and communication style and are able to use appropriate, individually suited medications, pheromones and nutraceuticals to best help your pet where necessary.
